Blokes & Blooms: A Blooming Success for Men's Mental Health
On Tuesday 20th January, Bluebells & Daisies hosted something a little different — and it truly blossomed.
Blokes & Blooms was a relaxed flower-arranging workshop designed specifically for men, bringing creativity, conversation and community together in a welcoming environment. What began as a bold idea turned into a powerful evening that proved flowers can do far more than decorate a room — they can help open up important conversations about men's mental health.

💐 Creativity Meets Conversation
The idea was simple: bring flowers, tools and good company into a relaxed setting and let conversation happen naturally.
Men of all ages came along, many having never arranged flowers before. There was laughter, concentration, plenty of friendly banter — and, most importantly, open and honest discussion. By the end of the evening, everyone left with a handcrafted bouquet and a shared sense of achievement.

📻 BBC Radio Lancashire Coverage
We were delighted to welcome Sharon Hartley from BBC Radio Lancashire, who came along to capture the atmosphere and speak with participants about why events like this matter.
Her coverage helped shine a regional spotlight on the importance of supporting men’s mental health in creative and accessible ways.

We’re incredibly proud to see a small community idea receive national recognition.

🌿 Working in Partnership with Andy’s Man Club
We were proud to collaborate with Andy’s Man Club, a UK-wide men’s suicide prevention charity offering free peer-to-peer support groups every Monday night across the country.
Founded in 2016, Andy’s Man Club aims to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and provide safe spaces where men can talk openly about their experiences. Their simple but powerful message — “It’s OK to talk” — continues to make a real impact in communities nationwide.
Following the success of Blokes & Blooms, local Andy’s Man Club groups have reported an uplift in attendance — proof that creative community events like this really do help break down barriers and encourage men to seek support. It worked :)

At Bluebells & Daisies, we’ve always believed flowers are powerful. This event showed us they can also be therapeutic, confidence-building and community-strengthening.

🌼 What’s Next?
The success of Blokes & Blooms has shown there is a real appetite for alternative, creative ways to support wellbeing.
We’re exploring future workshops and collaborations — and if this event proved anything, it’s that when you create the right space, people show up.
Flowers started the conversation. Community kept it growing.
